The most expensive installation mistake is not always incorrect wiring. It is reassembling the complete dashboard before every function has been tested. Use a structured test while the unit and connectors remain accessible.
Physical fit
- The screen and fascia sit evenly without forcing the trim.
- No connector is trapped behind a mounting point.
- Cables are clear of sharp edges, vents and moving controls.
- The screen angle does not interfere with buttons or climate controls.
Power and restart behaviour
Start and stop the vehicle several times. Confirm normal startup, sleep and shutdown behaviour. Check that the screen does not remain active unexpectedly after the vehicle is locked.
Audio
Test radio, Bluetooth audio, CarPlay or Android Auto and any local media input. Check all speakers, balance, fade, volume and factory-amplifier operation.
Phone and microphone
Make a test call with the vehicle running. Confirm that the other person can hear the driver clearly and that the microphone cable is not routed next to a noisy power source.
Controls and vehicle information
Test every steering-wheel button, illumination response, reverse signal and any supported door or climate display. Correct the CANBUS profile before assembly when a function is wrong.
Cameras
Check image orientation, trigger timing, guidelines and signal stability. Test with the engine running because electrical noise may not be visible when only accessory power is used.
USB, antenna and accessories
Test every supplied USB port, original USB retention adapter, radio antenna, DAB receiver and external accessory. Label hidden leads before the panels are fitted.
Final record
Photograph the successful installation and record the selected CANBUS profile and important settings. Keep the original stereo, trim and unused adapters with the vehicle.
