Factory camera and steering-wheel controls: what needs checking?
Replacing the original screen does not automatically guarantee every factory feature will continue to work.
Modern dashboards can connect the stereo or screen to several vehicle systems. Retaining factory functions may require the correct CANBUS interface, camera adapter, amplifier connection or product-specific wiring.
Steering-wheel controls
Confirm whether the vehicle uses analogue resistance controls or a data interface. Some vehicles require button learning; others require a compatible CANBUS module.
Factory reversing camera
Check the camera signal type, voltage and connector. A factory camera may need an adapter rather than connecting directly to a standard aftermarket camera input.
Factory amplifier and premium audio
Vehicles with an original amplifier can need an integration harness or a different installation approach. Without the correct interface, sound may be missing or incomplete.
Vehicle settings and original menus
Some factory screens display climate, parking or vehicle-setting information. Identify which features are essential before choosing the replacement system.
